Following his career as a Major League Baseball pitcher, Travis has dedicated his life to helping fellow professional athletes navigate the complexities of money on a path to financial success. His background as an MLB player uniquely qualifies him as a trusted advisor.
Travis attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, where he excelled in baseball, earning first-team All-District honors all four years. In 2002, Travis was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 14th round of the MLB Draft. He began his professional career in the Marlins’ minor league system. Travis was traded to the San Diego Padres in 2004. His time in the Padres’ organization was marked by significant achievements, including being named the Padres’ Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He was also recognized as the fourth-best prospect in the Padres’ organization by Baseball America.
In 2006, Travis was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, where he continued to shine. He was ranked as one of the top prospects in the Reds’ organization, further solidifying his reputation as a promising young pitcher. Later that year, he was traded to the Seattle Mariners, where Travis earned Texas League Pitcher of the Month with a dominant stretch with the San Antonio Missions. Chick made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners on September 13, 2006.
He coached high school baseball at The Brook Hill School and Tyler Junior College, winning state and national championships at each. Travis began his career as a Financial Advisor in 2014. He has also served on the Board of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County and The Children’s Village. Travis is an active member of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) and the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America (APBPA), while also assisting with various baseball events in the area.
Travis enjoys spending time with his wife, Shelby, and their two children, Hutton and Harrison. He also loves playing golf, hunting, traveling, and watching baseball.
